The Project for the New Uffizi
System adaptation
A reconnaissance was performedon the systems currently in operation in the museum complex. The following systems are present:
  • air-conditioning systems
  • heating systems
  • water and plumbing systems
  • fire prevention systems
  • power plant
  • cold store complex and cooling towers
  • special systems

The type of system and the areas served by the same are shown in the plans and in the graphic printouts relating to each plant, which are enclosed with the project (see Special Contract Specifications- Annex C list of printouts).

Except for the technological stations installed in a specific building, and part of the air-conditioning systems for the second floor, first floor and ground floor that have been recently installed (5 years), the other systems are obsolete and not functional to the utilisation of the areas served, while elsewhere they are absent.

In much of the building, the systems have been installed following “emergencies” , without any trace of what was actually done existing except in the form of “word of mouth”. Consequently a careful on-site verification was required so as to insert these system sections within an organic design project.
